MY OCTOBER FIRST: A CHARITY GALA FOR THE LEUKEMIA AND LYMPHOMA SOCIETY
When I was 17 years old I was diagnosed with Diffuse Large B Cell Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma Cancer. Over the months following, I went through intensive, in-patient chemotherapy while I was still in high school. I was forced to fertilize my eggs, insert a double catheter into my chest, undergo surgeries time after time, lose all my hair, and was connected to an IV bag for more often than not. After lots of physical and mental pain, I was finally announced cancer-free on October 1st, 2014. While I barely had any idea what was going on when I was 17, the years that followed were the ones that taught me the most. In 2022, I grew stronger emotionally than I ever thought I would and Saturday, October 1st, 2022 marked my 8th “Cancerversary.” So I thought, why the fuck not celebrate?!
In honor of being 8 years cancer-free, I hosted my first charity gala IN NEW YORK, RAISING OVER $40,000 for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.
The event was Studio 54 themed and held in Brooklyn, New York with over 150+ attendees, an open bar, DJ, photographer, 360 degree photo booth, multi-dimensional wall portraits and a raffle sponsored by Le Labo, Rumble, Heyday and Wine Therapy.
